Private whisky tours

Whisky tours from Inverness.

Collected from your Inverness hotel or the airport and driven to the distilleries you’d like to see: east to Speyside, or north to Glen Ord and Glenmorangie.

Plan your day from Inverness

Two directions

Inverness is the gateway to the Highlands, and to two quite different whisky days.

Head east and, in around an hour and a quarter, you’re among the stills of Speyside. Head north and Glen Ord and Glenmorangie are closer still, with the firths for company on the way.

Either way, there’s no designated driver and no hire car to return. Your driver plans the route, waits while you tour and brings you back to your door.

Where to go

East or north.

i.

East to Speyside

Around an hour and a quarter from Inverness lies the greatest concentration of malt whisky distilleries in the world. Benromach, in Forres, makes an easy first stop on the way.

  • The Macallan, on the Easter Elchies estate
  • Glenfiddich and The Balvenie, side by side in Dufftown
  • Aberlour and Glenfarclas, in the shadow of Ben Rinnes
  • The Glenlivet, high in its own glen

North to the firths

A shorter day out, with fewer miles and the Cromarty and Dornoch Firths along the way.

  • Glen Ord, around half an hour away at Muir of Ord
  • Glenmorangie, on the Dornoch Firth at Tain, under an hour north

Glen Ord, around half an hour away at Muir of Ord, and Glenmorangie at Tain, a little under an hour north. Benromach in Forres is around half an hour east, on the way to Speyside.

Yes. We’ll meet you at arrivals and take you straight to your hotel or your first distillery. See airport transfers.

It’s possible, but it means a lot of driving. We’d usually suggest one direction a day, or two days if you’d like to see both.
