Outlander Tour

Outlander Day Tour - This tour has been designed and inspired by the fictional story Outlander created by Diana Gabaldon for those who are fans of the novels and television series based on them.

Pick up from Inverness or Speyside (This will require an earlier pick up time) - We will collect you from your accommodation in Inverness or Speyside and head to the Clava Cairns near Culloden.

Clava Cairns - The Clava Cairns are standing stones near Culloden Battlefield. Most will be familiar with structures such as these after watching the TV show Outlander, and these particular ones have been said to be the inspiration for the standing stones Diana Gabaldon wrote that transport Claire back to the 18th century.

Culloden - Following on from the Clava Cairns, the next stop will be the famous Culloden Battlefield. This site is another one that is critical to the Outlander story and is the ground on which one of the most important battles in the British Isles took place.

Castle Leod - After you have had your time at Culloden, we will make our way up to Castle Leod. This is an absolute key stop on the tour as it is said to have been the inspiration for the famous Castle Leoch - the home of Jamie Fraser -  in the fictional tale.

Stop for lunch

Loch Ness/ Urquhart Castle -  The final stop on day two will be a drive down the side of Loch Ness, and a stop at Urquhart Castle to explore it’s grounds. Loch Ness’ legend of Nessie is globally known and we can certainly see how such a stunning area could inspire such magical tales. The castle sits at the edge of Loch Ness and is one of the most renowned in Scotland, parts of the site dating back to the 13th century. The castle has a vast history which you can learn on your trip here. Outlander fact: Loch Ness is where Claire was said to have seen a Kelpie in the novel.
